WOW!!!!!!!
Another year of games has come and passed. I want to take this time to send out some Thank You’s.
First, I would like to say Thank You to all our Financial Sponsors this year. It is through their generous contributions we are able to bring you the games.
Secondly, I would like to say Thank You to all the coordinators that spent many hours in preparing their events. To often people will complain about some aspect of the games forgetting that these folks volunteered their time and energy in an effort to raise money for charity. Without them there are no events and there are no games.
Thirdly, I would like to Thank my APAF Board and volunteers. For those that have never been involved in a fund raising event these games can be compared to a fundraiser on steroids. Offering 22 different events coupled with socials each night is a huge undertaking. My board and volunteers handled everything from check in registration to running medals out to different events.
Last but not least. I would like to Thank the competitors that continue to support the Arizona Police and Fire Games. We know that there are other games out there that you can choose to compete in. Although we strive to bring you the best games we can, there are times we don’t have control. In particular, in dealing with the weather and the Parks and Recs Department. I understand there were some unhappy softball teams in the way we ended the tournament. Our goal was to offer as many games to the teams as possible and that is why we decided to proceed the way we did. Unfortunately, in running an event of this magnitude no matter what you do you are always going to upset one side. Please keep in mind these games are for charity. I thank you for your patience and understanding.
Results are still being sent to me and it is my goal to post them as they come in. So, please check the website for updates. Thanks again. Be Safe Out There and we hope to see you next year.
